From waste material to protection
At Sheltersuit Foundation, we believe that discarded materials can gain a new purpose and save a life in the process. In our social atelier, we transform residual materials into warm Sheltersuits and Shelterbags for people without a roof over their heads.
But upcycling is intensive work. It requires time, care, and craftsmanship to turn used materials into something new and valuable. In our atelier, we sort, wash, cut, and sew with care, focusing on quality, sustainability, and dignity. In this way, we turn discarded fabrics into something that truly matters: protection for people without a home.
It starts with a piece of fabric
What others throw away is, for us, the beginning of something valuable. In our atelier, discarded tents, sleeping bags, and textile remnants are given a second chance. After carefully sorting, washing, and cutting, our makers, often people with a refugee background, transform them into warm, water- and windproof Sheltersuits and Shelterbags.
Sustainability with social value
At Sheltersuit, upcycling means more than reuse alone. By preventing material waste and giving leftover materials a new purpose, we work in a circular way. But also in a social way: every product is created in an environment where people learn, collaborate, and grow. In this way, we connect sustainability with humanity.
Upcycling requires support
Although we work with residual materials, upcycling itself is not without cost. From transport and cleaning to labor and storage, each item requires care and dedication. With your donation, you help us create value from waste and protect people without a home from cold and exclusion. Donate now and give discarded materials a second life.

Your support makes a difference
With your help, we can transform thousands of kilos of residual materials into warmth and protection for people without a roof over their heads in the coming year. Every piece of fabric we use is carefully processed into a Sheltersuit or Shelterbag.
Every gift—whether it’s five euros or five hundred—helps us reduce waste, provide people with work, and protect lives from cold and exclusion.
Tax benefits on your donation?
Would you like to make the most of the tax benefits on your donations? Consider setting up a periodic donation agreement with Sheltersuit.
In this agreement, you commit to donating a fixed amount each year for at least five consecutive years. If your donation meets this condition, the full amount is tax-deductible each year in your income tax return according to the rules of the Dutch Tax Authority.
