Rico broke through with Opgezwolle and later with Fakkelbrigade, but his story goes beyond music. He is a father. Theatre maker. Youth worker. He contributed to the book ‘Mijn eigen wereld’, written by Job Hulsman, and uses his own past to help others find a new direction.
Today, he uses his voice for the more than 30,000 people experiencing homelessness in the Netherlands, people for whom every night is a fight against cold, uncertainty, and survival.
Rico knows what it’s like to stand on both sides of life: the side of searching, falling, and losing your way — and the side of returning, rebuilding, and beginning again.
With the exclusive Sheltersuit Bomber Jacket, we bring these two worlds together. From falling to rising. From darkness to light.
No mass production, but unique pieces carefully crafted from upcycled materials. Made in our atelier, where makers from countries including Syria, Ukraine, and Eritrea are building a new future.
Each jacket gives both materials and people a second chance.
With its reversible design, this bomber literally tells two stories: calm and understated on the outside, colorful, open, and full of life on the inside. The jacket is made from upcycled sleeping bags, materials given a new purpose.
With every purchase, you support Sheltersuit: the proceeds go directly toward producing new Sheltersuits, jackets that can be extended into a sleeping bag for people who are forced to sleep outside.
A jacket with meaning.
A jacket with meaning.
A jacket with meaning.
With the release of his new track “2 kanten”, Rico once again makes clear what he stands for: raw honesty, vulnerability, and the conviction that every person is more than the label placed upon them.
In 2 kanten, Rico reflects on life between extremes. On falling and getting back up. On the thin line between hope and hopelessness. Themes drawn not only from his own life, but also painfully familiar to people living on the streets or without a place to call home.
With this track, Rico and Sheltersuit underline their shared message: people helping people.
