Non-profit organisation Sheltersuit was founded in 2014 to design and produce multifunctional products that protect socio-economic homeless people, refugees in camps, and war- and disaster victims against cold, rain and wind.
These products are not meant to be a replacement for finding a home, but a supplement to when you have no other choice.
More than 20.000 items have now been distributed worldwide with the help of (local) aid organisations.
The products are produced in social factories in The Netherlands and South Africa by people with a distance to the labour market. Recycled and reusable materials are used as much as possible.
The Sheltersuit Foundation has offices in Enschede (NL), Capetown (SA), New York (USA), and London (UK) and strives for a world where everybody has dignity and access to shelter.
