Welcome to Sheltersuit Foundation

At Sheltersuit Foundation we believe everyone deserves warmth, protection, and dignity. With the continuing increasing number of people living unsheltered in the USA, Sheltersuit USA Foundation is a 501(c)3 organization that was incorporated in 2020 to help.

We provide multifunctional products that provide immediate shelter to people who need it most. These products are not meant to be a replacement for finding a home, but a supplement to when there is no other choice.

The Sheltersuit, for the colder climates

The Sheltersuit is a wind- and waterproof jacket with an optional attached sleeping bag to provide immediate shelter. The Sheltersuit consists of a jacket, sleeping bag, and a duffel bag.

The outer shell is made from high-quality, breathable, waterproof tent fabric. The inner lining is made from upcycled sleeping bags, making each Sheltersuit unique. The large hood shields the face from rain and streetlights, and contains an integrated scarf.

The Shelterbag, for the warmer climates

The Shelterbag is a portable bed that rolls up into a bag. It is waterproof, lightweight, easy to handle and has an extra compartment for some personal items.

It comes with an optional sleeping bag and a built-in pillow and also has room for an extra mattress or blanket, making it adaptable for all seasons.

It is also possible to integrate a flexible tent pole into the hood to keep it upright, providing more space and better shelter from the rain.

PEOPLE HELPING PEOPLE

Who we care about

The products we provide are currently produced by our sister foundations Stichting Sheltersuit in the Netherlands and Sheltersuit SA Foundation in South Africa. They are made in their social factories by people with a distance to the labor force and made out of upcycled materials to reduce waste.

We focus on the following three target groups and always distribute our products in collaboration with local helping organisations.

Many homeless individuals are affected by financial problems, unemployment, or other socio-economic circumstances, often leaving them without access to help and housing.

Worldwide, many people are forced to live in refugee camps because they needed to leave their home countries due to conflicts, persecution, or other crises. The conditions in these camps can be very challenging, with limited access to basic necessities.

Disaster and conflict

Disasters and conflicts cause large groups of people to become displaced and homeless. They are often vulnerable and in urgent need of emergency aid.

That’s why we've established partnerships with helping organisations, bringing dignified solutions to those who need it most.
