Calais, an ongoing crisis

Calais is a city in northern France where many people who have fled from violence and persecution in their homelands hope to find safety and a new life. The people who seek refuge in Calais face many risks and challenges in their current situation. They are being mistreated and have no shelter. We are talking about a humanitarian call of of action. We partnered with dedicated helping organisations to bring Sheltersuits and safety to ones in need. However it is still not enough! We are asking you to join us help bring attention and action to this cause!

Maersk Latin America

Sheltersuit and Maersk are amplifying each other’s strengths to empower local aid organizations and support people experiencing homelessness. Starting with a pilot in five Latin American countries, this joint venture provides innovative protective solutions for hard-to-reach, vulnerable communities.

Sheltersuits for Ukraine

Temperatures have been dropping below freezing at night in Ukraine. With no heating or electricity due to the ongoing war, the demand for Sheltersuits and Shelterbags for the people from the Ukraine is rapidly increasing. Over the past few days, Sheltersuit Foundation has been approached by multiple international aid organisations, requesting over 1,000 Sheltersuits as a start.

IsoGroup

Niels Vincke is part of the successful construction company IsoGroup (Belgium). H contacted the Sheltersuit Foundation. He saw wonderful opportunities for a partnership and was eager to share these ideas. Providing comfort, warmth and safety; the most important core values for both Sheltersuit Foundation and construction company IsoGroup.

Shelterbags for Los Angeles

At least 63,706 people are currently homeless in Los Angeles County. That’s according to a count by the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) where they noticed a 20% increase in homelessness compared to 2019. The COVID-19 pandemic has only brought more challenges, with housing affordability and decreased capacity in shelters further contributing to encampments throughout the city.

Unsheltered Moments

The Sheltersuit Foundation aims to change the representation of the growing group of people experiencing homelessness around the world, while improving their everyday lives. To date, Sheltersuit has produced and donated over 15.000 Sheltersuits and Shelterbags to keep people warm and dry while living on the street. While handing out our products, we realized it gave us a unique opportunity to get close to people who are unseen by most of us. In this magazine, you’ll meet a few of them. Their stories stand for those of whom we hear too little.

Terrigal Rotary

In 2019, while visiting the Rotary Capetown, Mary Crammond was introduced to Sheltersuit Foundation and Lyn. After seeing a Shelterbag, Mary’s first thought was “We don’t need that in Australia! Our government looks after us”. But with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, it became apparent to her that Australia had more people experiencing homelessness than she first realised.

Now, Rotary Terrigal and Sheltersuit have started a project to share shelter with 400 people in the Central Coast region of Australia.

Auping

Sheltersuit Foundation and Dutch bedding and mattress company, Royal Auping, both believe in a comfortable night’s sleep. Together, we produced 250 Shelterbags, a sturdy mattress and summer sleeping bag combo that rolls up into a bag. Auping was able to provide the mat inside, supporting 250 people so that they don’t have to sleep on the hard pavement.

Chloé

We have entered into an exciting partnership with Parisian fashion house Chloé, led by purpose pioneer Gabriela Hearst. As the fashion house’s newly appointed Creative Director, she is prioritizing environmental and social impact in an effort to address a much larger global issue – along with Sheltersuit.

The collection supports people experiencing homelessness now, but also in the future, as the margin is donated to the Sheltersuit Foundation.
